Conexus Cares Spotlight: Building Homes and Hope with Flatirons Habitat for Humanity
At Conexus, we believe strong communities are built when people come together to support one another. Through our Conexus Cares program, we partner with organizations making a meaningful impact across Colorado — and this quarter, we’re proud to spotlight Flatirons Habitat for Humanity as our June 2026 nonprofit partner.
On June 24th, members of the Conexus team will volunteer alongside Flatirons Habitat for Humanity at the innovative BoulderMOD facility, helping support affordable housing initiatives right here in our local community.
Building More Than Homes
For more than 30 years, Flatirons Habitat for Humanity has helped families across Boulder and Broomfield counties achieve safe, stable, and affordable homeownership. Their mission is simple but powerful: bringing people together to build homes, communities, and hope.
In a region where affordable housing continues to be a growing challenge, Flatirons Habitat is creating innovative solutions that help families build long-term stability and opportunity.
“Affordable housing impacts more than housing — it impacts stability, opportunity, and community.”
One of the most exciting examples of this work is BoulderMOD — a first-of-its-kind modular homebuilding factory created through a partnership between Flatirons Habitat for Humanity, the City of Boulder, and Boulder Valley School District.
What Is BoulderMOD?
Rather than building homes entirely on-site through traditional construction methods, BoulderMOD creates high-quality, energy-efficient modular homes in a climate-controlled factory environment. Once completed, the homes are transported and installed in affordable housing communities throughout the area.
The project is helping address several community needs at once:
✔ Expanding access to permanently affordable housing
✔ Reducing construction waste and improving efficiency
✔ Creating workforce development opportunities for local students
✔ Supporting innovative and sustainable building practices
Students from Boulder Valley School District’s construction programs work alongside skilled professionals, volunteers, and future homeowners to gain hands-on experience in carpentry, electrical work, framing, and construction trades. (flatironshabitat.org)
The homes built through BoulderMOD support projects like the Ponderosa Community Stabilization Project in Boulder, which aims to replace aging housing with modern, energy-efficient homes while preserving long-term affordability for residents.
Conexus in Action
As part of our Conexus Cares initiative, our team will spend June 24th volunteering at the BoulderMOD facility and supporting Flatirons Habitat’s mission firsthand.
We’re excited for the opportunity to step away from our desks, work side-by-side with other volunteers, and contribute to a project that directly impacts families in our community.
One of the things we admire most about Flatirons Habitat for Humanity is that their work goes beyond simply building houses. They’re helping create stability, opportunity, and a foundation for families to thrive for generations to come.
Why Affordable Housing Matters
Housing affordability continues to affect families across Colorado. Rising home prices and limited inventory have made homeownership increasingly difficult for many working individuals and families.
Organizations like Flatirons Habitat for Humanity are helping address that challenge through collaboration, innovation, and community involvement. Their work creates pathways to homeownership that may not otherwise exist — while also strengthening neighborhoods and communities in the process.
How You Can Support Flatirons Habitat for Humanity
There are many ways to support their mission:
✔ Volunteer on a construction project
✔ Donate to affordable housing initiatives
✔ Shop or donate through the Habitat ReStore
✔ Share their mission with your network
✔ Support local affordable housing advocacy efforts
Caring for Our Community
At Conexus, giving back is about more than writing a check. It’s about showing up, building relationships, and supporting organizations that are creating meaningful change in our communities.
We’re honored to support Flatirons Habitat for Humanity this quarter and look forward to sharing highlights from our volunteer day later this month.
People first. People protected.
